Calendula + Helichrysum Recovery Balm

Born from a family request and named by my dad, Heal Thyself is a golden, concentrated balm designed for comfort and restoration. This hand-poured blend of botanicals and butters draws on both traditional herbal wisdom and modern plant science, bringing care to skin that’s tender, irritated, or simply in need of extra support.

What’s Inside

Soothing + Recovery

  • Helichrysum (Italy, Corsica, Croatia) — Sometimes called “immortelle” or the “everlasting flower,” helichrysum has been used in Mediterranean folk traditions for centuries to ease bruising and skin trauma. Modern studies highlight its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, making it a prized essential oil for calming and recovery.

  • Roman Chamomile (England, France, Eastern Europe) — Known since ancient times as a gentle comforter, Roman chamomile has long been used in teas, compresses, and ointments for irritated or sensitive skin. Its azulene content lends calming and soothing effects.

  • Calendula (Southern Europe, now widely cultivated) — A traditional skin ally dating back to ancient Greece and Ayurveda. Calendula is rich in carotenoids and flavonoids, helping to ease redness, support wound healing, and provide overall skin comfort.

Hydration + Barrier Support

  • Mango Butter (India, West Africa) — Cold-pressed from the kernel of the mango fruit, this butter is rich in stearic and oleic acids, lending protective emollience while locking in moisture without heaviness.

  • Jojoba Oil (Southwestern U.S., Mexico, Argentina) — Actually a liquid wax, jojoba closely mimics our skin’s natural sebum, helping to balance oil production and reinforce the skin barrier.

  • Sunflower Oil (North America, Europe) — A lightweight, vitamin E–rich oil used historically by Native American peoples for both culinary and medicinal purposes, known today for being non-comedogenic and deeply nourishing. (Sunflower oil is also less likely to irritate sensitive skin or those with nut allergies.)

Nourishment + Renewal

  • Rosehip Oil (Chile, Argentina) — Sourced from the fruit of wild roses, rosehip oil is rich in natural vitamin A compounds and essential fatty acids. Studies show it supports visible skin regeneration and helps reduce the appearance of scars and uneven tone.

  • Sea Buckthorn Fruit Oil (Himalayas, Eastern Europe, Russia) — A vivid orange oil packed with omega-7, carotenoids, and antioxidants. Used in Tibetan and Russian traditional medicine for centuries to support skin recovery and resilience.

  • Babchi Oil (India, Ayurvedic tradition) — Derived from the seeds of Psoralea corylifolia, babchi has been used in Ayurveda for supporting stressed skin. It contains bakuchiol, a compound studied as a gentler alternative to retinol.

Safety + Stability

  • Beeswax — Provides structure and a breathable protective layer.

  • Vitamin E — Helps guard oils from oxidation while nourishing skin with antioxidant benefits.
